Development of Galileo Space Sentinels . ''EarthMoMS'' comes under space4earth portfolio . Combination of current knowledge and projects. Architecture and design input/ support by students Matthew Holland [Bath Spa University] and Jamie McGhee [University of Cardiff]
I. First project to propose GPS to monitor building sway because of amplification of ground tremors at structure pinnacle . Essentially bio mimicry - as tall structures amplify movement from ground - GPS tag the apex - just like how we look at branches at end of trees to tell how strong the wind is.
II. Fist project to propose the monitoring of animal behavior [known from ethology work to be mainly movements] within such structures. For example Namazu Catfish on structure pinnacles, bees in centre to monitor heat levels [a major source of concrete stress] . That data to be compared against that of sea turtle and jellyfish movements [prey/predator] in their natural environment.
III. First to propose genetic enhancement of all those creatures tectonic sensory abilities [Operation Namazu]
IV. Based on archaeological knowledge, first to propose use of giant magnetometers under buildings to back up building and creature behaviour data [ the so named ''massively parallel magnetometer arrays'' ]
V. First to propose financial trading technology as instrument of choice to collate and monitor structural and creature behaviour
VI. First to propose that such people then bet [rather than predict] when disaster will occur [the so named ''Quake Traders'']
VII. First project to propose using data as insurance database to keep cost of skyscrapers down
VIII. First project to say use data to target application of concrete repair materials such as SRF thus reducing need for rebuilding.
